Not your average Daisy Dukes

Whether crazy with quilting and naughty school girl plaid...
or simple.

super short "if you can call them" shorts made their debut on the runways of many daring designers. They are hot, to say the least. But i sure hope I don't see to many style dare devils rocking their panties in the streets.

Neon?

As i flip through my February issue of Teen Vogue, i'm getting very nervous. Bright colors, day brites, and neons, and primary's are what fill the small pages. This year i finally got into black, and i'm finding it hard to shy away from. But the neons intrigue me, and scare me too. Of course there was a spread about faded jeans, dainty florals, and faded tees
if i just wanted to add a bit of color, the marc by marc jabobs inspired dress from forever 21 is a personal favorite, especially with the blue lolita glasses
and cherry red is a personal favorite standout color of mine

So far the only decent things in neon colors are these two sweatshirts from AA. I guess teen vogue is a little ahead of the retail world, since no one else has managed to catch on to the trend...yet.

Who: Alice Dellal and Alexander Wang
What: The hottest Alexander Wang dress i've ever seen
Where: CDFA /Vogue Fashion Fund Awards
I love the toughness of the shoes, and the sexiness of the lace. I managed to find a cheap F21 dress, however it is nothing compared to the A Wang mesh look, i like the use of lace, it would make a cute party dress, new years party anyone? And the studded boot/shoe is just hot, no other words can describe it

another boring friday evening

In order to keep myself some what entertained last night, i threw on some pearls and a tight mini and played with my tripod, if only my room had one blank wall on it, these pictures would have been somewhat of a success. I also decided that transforming my eyelids into mini rainbows was a fun idea, and putting white eyeshadow on my lips so i looked like an ice fairy would be totally normal.

Giorgio Armani

Very understated, very red carpet ready chic. Armani took the simple path for pf09, and i think i like it.

New year=New blog

armed with a sweet new camera, an armful of fashion books, some charcoal and a sketchpad, my new years resolution is to start taking this blog seriously or completely start a new one. I vow to do more outfit posts, and develop a signature style(at the moment i'm thinking preppy, girly, but a little bit bohemian as the spring rolls in) With my subscription to Nylon arriving soon, and Vogue being mailed asap i will also attempt to engross myself with even more fashion knowledge. And of course I'll try to keep my grades at all a's, lose some weight in the behind region, and spend less time reading and eating and more time exercising(as soon as the snow melts of course) blah, blah, blah...

p.s. my style inspiration The Clothes Horse has the cutest labbit ever, so i decided that i was in desperate need of one myself, however she is yet to have a name, her photos will be up soon. Comment your name ideas, i need something good

"The girl who lives in the tree"

I actually get very sad at the end of a year, partially cause i hate writing the new year on my papers, and also because i never really make my resolutions come true. But in order to try to make it better, i'm working on a list of things that made fashion special this year (inspired by style.com of course) so far the only thing on my mind is Alexander McQueen fall 08, which is such a beautiful inspired show i get chills every time i watch that runway show. The way the models moved with the outfits in the flat shoes with the fluffy ballerina skirts and adorned head dresses just take my breath away. So far that's the extent of my list, but i have 15 days right?

I think I have a crush on Alexander Wang...

At this very moment aside from classic houses(Chanel, Dior, Prada, etc.) Alexander Wang is my absolute favorite designer hands down. However i love a Lanvin dress every now and then, a Marc Jacobs bag, or a Luella show. Alexander never fails to impress me. His pre-fall show is so simple, and wearable. I love the use of jackets in the line and the subtle bra showing shows he knows how to make sexy tasteful, which is often hard for young designers. If i ever had the chance to meet him i would probably die, hes so cute(In a little baby way)
I decided aside from interning at teenvogue, assisting Anna Wintour, and making my own line by the time i'm 25 ( In my dreams of course ;] ) i would love to work for Alexander Wang.... a girl can hope right?

Oscar de la Renta

Instead of reading "Of Mice and Men" in English class, which for the record is seriously disturbing. I drew pictures in my notebook, and When i went on net-a-porter when i got home, i found the exact dress i had in my head all day. Kinda creepy...

so what if it isn't even winter yet...i have spring fever

while on net-a-porter i tried to pick out the first things that made me think of spring..and being the realist person i am i went for minty green, oval patterned shades, and of course a nice pair of jimmy choos. The site showed so much color it almost made me want to not wear a black dress, black tights, and black boots to school tomorrow!

aside from more collages, i watched my favorite movie (which i believe is still paused in my bedroom) The Devil Wears Prada, i was so amazed by how classic all the clothes are, like a few years from now people will still think they dress nice, unlike those 80's movies (pretty in pink, breakfast club etc.) where you weren't sure what they were thinking about.

oh and i'm sort of freaking about my lack of Christmas presents purchased...1 i think i need to stop blogging and start shopping. But malls scare me around Christmas time, however i am thinking i need to go to express to find a sequin skirt. And i need a store to have purple, black, and silver cause it's hot. I j'adore the Marni clutches and stand-out necklaces. And miu miu's sheath dresses make me so happy, plus they are actually wearable. The black tights with the dresses make them seem Christmas party appropriate. In other words you don't have to wear red to be festive, crazy suprise, i know.

I don't do fashion, I am fashion.

props to Karl Lagerfeld, the whole show gave the average feel of a Chanel show to me. Yet it still amazes me season after season how impressed i can me. I feel like this springs outfits were more glamorous there some prior, which i personally love. There was a lot of sparkle and glitter in the end, which i usually avoid in clothing since it reminds me of my horrid limited too days, but Lagerfeld managed to make it work. The big black hair accessories were stunning and intricate as well. I liked the minimal use of color too, even though i love a splash here and there i thought it made the line seem very Paris, very Chanel. I want to incorporate some of the more basic looks into my spring wardrobe( i tell myself i will, even though chances are i will not have the time or money to dress like this) but its all very chic, which is usually the opposite of springrtw, way to stick to what your good at Chanel, and not try to channel some hippie, or be an Anna Sui wannabe.

ruffles,grey skys, and versace

However the quality level, and over aesthetic of the two photos are on polar opposite levels. They are in some ways similar, ruffles and bows plus strong colors were used in both. Versace and Yves Saint Laurent are always impressive collections season after season and never fail to impress. Yves' uses of very simple designs in luxe fabrics really drew me into his show. Whereas Versace's very Italian, very risque designs never fail to grab the audiences attention. The four pieces above were probably my favorite overall, i love the use of yellow in fashion lately since its so opposite to the normal black, white, and grey wardrobes of "fashionistas". And the ruffles and bows compilation is a few items I would love to purchase from twelve by twelve, if only there was a store near me.

Thanks to horrid 10 degree weather I've been forced to wear flat boots, long john pants, and gloves everyday. And the wind is doing nothing for my lifeless hair. I just want winter to be over.

Ps. only 13 days until Christmas ( I need to start working on some present shopping, since i defiantly haven't started yet....)

Doo.Ri Chung

If only i had known about this amazing designer sooner. Unfortunately I'm not the best with knowing every designer in the industry, Doo Ri Chung's new prefall 09 rtw line was shown on the homepage of style.com. Of course after seeing the intense use of black, white, and ice blue in her prefall 09 line, i was interested in seeing past seasons...and of course i fell in love. Mostly with her use of color in her srtw show. The mix of peaches, baby blues, magentas, and mimosa yellow was absolutely mesmerizing to me in a sea of the black separates on the runway. Her use of layers and lace up grey boot/pumps really helped to pull the whole show together.

I cant wait for spring and next fall. i want to rock pastels like elie saab, and bold shoulders and skinny skirts like Lanvin, and next fall work some sky high lace up boots with trapeze dresses.

And ps. i got my hair cut again and its back to its normal almost black color.

chanel pre fall 09

part structured military clothing, part Russian, part Egyptian, All amazing.

Karl Lagerfeld has completly outdone himself again. He told style.com this was "designed to show off the skills of the French embroiderers, milliners, goldsmiths, and shoemakers the house supports" And it sure as hell did. The embroidery of the headdresses, and clothing are absolutely stunning. The sculpted heels and handbags added drama to the scene, as well as a very 2008 selection of leggings and tights. If only i was there to see it, he gave the attendees the new Chanel nail lacquer, an iridescent deep blue, those are some lucky ladies(and gentleman)

need inspiration

I've pretty much left the style world recently, i'm in a rut. The beautiful snowy weather is doing little for my clothing choices, however it does photograph well.however recently i've been in love with yelle's style. Nylon featured a video of her sharing some of her clothes today, aside from her adorable accent i love her clothes. The bright colors and glitter are something i normally shy away from, but she manages to make it work. I absoultly would love to see people reaction if i tried to rock a bright yellow smile face mini dress.
